A 20-year-old Baxter man was arrested Monday on felony drug charges after authorities confiscated a pound of marijuana wax with an estimated street value of more than $22,000.

The Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division executed a search warrant at 9 a.m. Monday at a residence on the 7400 block of Novotny Road in Baxter. The warrant was in connection to an ongoing drug investigation.

As a result of the warrant, 1 pound of marijuana wax or “shatter,” was located along with $900.

“This was a very good arrest by LADID,” Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl stated in a news release. “The amount of marijuana wax that was seized is way over user amounts. This individual is in the business of selling narcotics.”

Dahl stated marijuana wax is a relatively new drug which is made by forcing Butane through raw marijuana. The butane extracts the THC from the marijuana. The liquid then dries into a brittle layer of a very potent form of marijuana. It is known on the street as, “shatter, wax, dab, honey or budder” and is generally smoked by the user.

Dahl also credits the public for providing a tip to LADID, which assisted them in the investigation.
