A group of medical marijuana cultivators in Desert Hot Springs is planning to host a community Easter egg hunt in the city the day before Easter.

The family-friendly event, on Saturday, April 15, is free and open to the public. Families are encouraged to bring their own picnic lunches, blankets and lawn chairs to the event. Food will also be available for purchase.

Representatives of the Desert Hot Springs Cannabis Alliance network said the event was their way of giving back to the community. DHS CAN also sponsored a fall festival in the city in October.

There will be three separate egg hunts throughout the day, divided up by age group. The first hunt, for ages two to five, will start at 11 a.m. The second, for ages six to nine, will start at noon. The third, for ages 10 to 12, will begin at 1 p.m.

Participants are also encouraged to bring their own Easter egg basket or bag to hold their findings.

The event will also feature bouncy houses and an appearance from the Easter Bunny.

The Easter egg hunts will take place at Mission Springs Park, 66-750 Park Ln., in Desert Hot Springs. The entire event will run from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Organizers asked those interested in attending to RSVP with the number of people attending to dhscaneaster@gmail.com. More information about the event can be found on its Facebook page.
