Atlanta’s City Council is pushing for a plan to reduce the penalties for having marijuana for personal use, but Mayor Kasim Reed says he’s concerned about sending “the wrong message” to families if the penalty is lowered.

During a meeting on Friday, Reed said he’s conflicted about the issue.

The ultimate decision would be up to Mayor Reed, but if he’s not on board with it, the initiative would be put on a perpetual hold.
